BKE's structural design experience includes structures built of concrete masonry units (CMU), Steel, cast-in-place concrete, wood, pre-cast concrete, post tension, aluminum and concrete tilt-up panels. BKE has also designed structures utilizing Hambro Composite Systems, wood trusses, light-gauge steel framing as well as Air-Con Systems.

Our geotechnical and environmental design background gives us a leading edge in the design of structures requiring a deep foundation support system. BKE has designed various projects utilizing deep support systems consisting of auger-cast piles, stone columns, helical anchors, timber piles, drilled shafts and other various pile systems.

BKE has diverse design experience that encompasses renovating historic structures, educational facilites, medical facilities, religious facilities and retail type structures. We also specialize in settlement repair issues, repairing cracking and deteriorating structures, as well as concrete restorations.

The Bolles School Boathouse

Design of a new two-story concrete masonry unit (CMU) boathouse facility including ballroom, gym facility, locker rooms and a new roof with tongue and groove 4-inch Lam deck lock design spanning 12’-0” on center with clay tile roofing.  This new structure was designed as a facility for multiple uses for the school.  Many of the structural elements were incorporated as architectural features (9,000s.f.)

Duval County Court House Structural Threshold Inspection Services

Threshold Inspection Services for an 800,000 square-foot, cast-in-  place concrete and steel courthouse facility.  This structure is   supported   by a deep foundation system consisting of auger-cast piles and grade   beams.  BKE was responsible for structural inspection of all load-bearing   systems and elements.  (800,000 s.f.).

 A Loft Hotel-Jacksonville

Structural design services for a five-story limited service hotel, with  LEED Certification. The main structural elements were, CMU, metal studs, and steel beams and columns.  A green living roof is also incorporated and can be viewed from guests rooms
